UK wind capacity exceeds 20GW

Wind power in the UK can now power the equivalent of 14 million households after breaking the 20GW barrier in installed capacity. As well as powering homes, wind generation has also reduced carbon emissions in the UK by 23 million tonnes a year.
Balancing Mechanism receives first supply

The National Grid’s Balancing Mechanism (BM) has received its first supply from a 10MW battery storage site. The successful transmission of energy into the BM is expected to provide a major boost to the UK’s renewable and battery storage industry.
Flex providers encouraged to sell into the Balancing Mechanism

The new roadmap allows flexible participants to sell into the BM by altering the generation and consumption levels of their assets. Bids are placed in flexibility to half hour settlement periods, the Grid then purchases what it needs to balance the system.
